Coconut Milk
Coconut milk is not the liquid from inside the nut, but the extract of freshly grated coconut flesh.
The flesh is first soaked
in hot water, then allowed to cool, after which the liquid is strained off.
This process that yields both coconut milk and coconut cream.
The two liquids will separate when left to stand: the thick white cream will rise to the surface of the liquid leaving the clear watery milk below.
Coconut milk gives a distinctive taste and smoothness to curries, sauces and rice.

Choose the Right Sun Protection
Hello Beautiful | Ask Our Esty: How do I choose the right sun protection, help I need a guide!
There are two kinds of rays that penetrate the ozone: UVA and UVB. UVB rays can cause superficial damage, like sunburns, while UVA rays penetrate deep into the dermis and cause mayhem, breaking down the collagen and elastin that holds your skin in place. UVA rays are responsible for the aging aspects of sun exposure like wrinkling, loss of firmness and hyperpigmentation.
Here are some facts and tips for preventing sun damage throughout the year:
- Seek out the shade, especially between 10 AM and 4 PM. This is when the UV index is at its highest and you are more susceptible to the damaging effects of UVA and UVB rays.
- You should always use a broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher every day. For all of your fun outdoor activities, use a broad spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher.
- The SPF level specifies the amount of time you can spend in the sun without burning, not how strong a product is. An SPF 30 is not tougher than an SPF 15; it just means you won’t need to reapply it as often.
- Apply 1 ounce (2 tablespoons) of sunscreen to your entire body 30 minutes before going outside.
- You should reapply sun protection at a minimum of every two hours, but if you’re swimming or working up a sweat, reapply immediately. It’s better to be safe than burnt and sorry.
- Avoid tanning and UV tanning booths, because this is where you are just asking for wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, age spots and, in extreme cases, skin cancer. Just one indoor tanning session alone increases users’ chances of developing melanoma by 20%, and each additional session during the same year boosts the risk almost another 2%. (1)
- Try to wear protective clothing, including a wide brimmed hat and UV-blocking sunglasses. The fashion selections and options are endless!
- Don’t forget the kiddos! Keep newborns out of the sun, and remember that sunscreen should be used on babies over the age of six months.
- Self-checks are important, so examine your skin head-to-toe every month and see your physician every year over the age of 35 for a professional skin exam.

Hello Beautiful | 5 Signs Your Skin Needs Love
Hello Beautiful | 5 Signs Your Skin Needs Love
When the mercury and humidity plummet, that means it’s time to provide all the love your skin needs to avoid dehydration, flaking, and redness. Here are our quick and effective solutions that smother your skin with affection!
1. Dry Patches. In dehydrated skin, the cells start to lift, causing skin to flake and peel. The answer- add Argan Oil to your regimen in the cold winter months. Why? Your skin’s protective barrier is comprised of fatty acids that dry, cold weather strips away. This lightweight oil easily penetrates skin replenishing lost moisture and protecting against damage. Follow with a super hydrating cream to hold in the moisture and plump the skin.
2. Itchiness. Sometimes stinging and discomfort can be a sign of sensitivity to harsh ingredients and irritants. When it comes to skincare, less is always more. Cleansing with an Aloe and Sea Buckthorn based cleanser to sooth sensitive skin, using a simple Hyaluronic Gel to hold in moisture and soften skin and a gentle, ultra light, but hydrating cream is all that’s needed.
3. Breakouts. Blemishes can pop up for a number of reasons, including stress, lack of sleep, or overexposure to occlusive products this time of year. Wash with a mild cleanser that targets blemishes, but doesn’t dry out skin. Then spot-treat blemishes to reduce redness and speed up healing with a product like Clear Skin Spot Treatment. Look for products with salicylic acid – it’s and anti-inflammatory and much less irritating than benzoyl peroxide. And don’t forget Retinal in the PM- it chemically exfoliates, kills bacteria and cleans pores.
4. Dullness. Anything that stimulates collagen production and evens out skin tone is going to help radiance. The number one dermatologist recommended, hero ingredient is Retinal to help cellular turnover and illuminate skin. In addition, use a natural AHA exfoliator or peel twice a week to help slough off dead skin cells and help thicken the collagen layer. Using a Peptide-based serum will also help stimulate your cells to produce more collagen.
5. Hyperpigmentation. The message on sun is clear: it damages skin. Even in winter, the aging UVA rays wreck havoc on our skin cells, making broad-spectrum everyday production (UVA and burning UVB rays) a MUST. To help correct the damage, treat your skin to a revitalizing dose ofVitamin C. This daily skincare staple not only improves the appearance of dark spots and discoloration, it evens out skin tone, and brightens the complexion.
